This is an article i wrote recently for my brother’s college magazine. I had fun writing it even though I have never been to their college, I hope you’ll enjoy reading it for the same reasons.
Btw, MIT here is Maharashtra Institute Of Technology.
MIT Campus 10 Hot-shot spots to study
Although studying in a dorm room is convenient, it is often a poor place to learn for it has a plethora of distractions that includes internet, video games , LAN games, chats and discussions with friends , sharing of jokes of all variety, a hot cup of maggie and yes last but not the least – SLEEP!!! Lying down on the bed to read turns into an hour long nap and a bright yellow highlighter spot on your sheets!
We the students of MIT are victims of a weak memory and low concentration because we simply love the distractions around us, but hey we know how to fight it(not the distractions
)
Generally, our plans take shape when this most hated creature of the universe called ‘exams’ decides to spoil the nice time we are always busy having with our respective ‘distractions’.
So here we are with our exclusive research on the “studyPlaces @ MIT” and here we come with a handout that provides a list of common study spots on campus and includes rankings of noise level, cleanliness, and availability. This research has been done with utmost sincerity and any resemblance with any other college is purely intentional for we , the Youth of today have the same values and beliefs , dont we ? Hope our research helps you when you encounter exams! We would like to hear comments/feedbacks/inputs from all of you so that we can make this more useful and handy!!!
1. Behind the cafeteria , under the shed
Preferrable time of the day is Evening time after 6 when you have less junta
Noise levels: very dim in the evenings, low on light though.A not very clean place though , but then do we really care !
We are trying to get a Tubelight fitted there! Thats ok , you dont need to thank us.
2. Gyaneshwara hall (From stairs till the terrace)
Availability : Well this is first come first serve! “Pehle aao pehle pao”.
You really need to be fast to get it . During exam days , people rush in the mornings and leave this place by evenings. So if a place is booked its booked for the entire day. We will soon start a ticketing service here. Very lucrative ! No no we will not keep the funds with us. We will use them to build more stairs.
Noise Levels: Trust me this is a heaven during exam days , but can at times make u sleep for the silence it has to offer. ![]()
Cleanliness: Nothing beats it!
3. knowledge corridor-
Guys we are mentioning this place only because we have noticed some homosapiens there during exam days , who have really managed to pass exams with flying colors. Please try this at your own risk!
Availability: Oh always !
Noise Levels : Very high !
A very lively place though, sleep does not hit you there !You bring your friends or friend and also watch the elusive cricket match on that small TV. Oh you want a big plasma screen , ok we will see what we can do for you!
4. Stairs behind gyaneshwara hall-
Availability: Very high as not much people knew about it. Well now you do , we will update this column later on as we expect the availability to decrease.
Noise levels: Pin drop silence!
Pretty decent place to study. Try it !
5. The MIT Lawn
It was pretty decent place before they dug it !
I dont know why they did that to this beautiful place .
Availability: Most of the time it is available.
So if you want to study and admire the nature , try this ! May be it works for you!
Best Time: Before the sunset! But wait we will try to put some lights here as well . No no , we cant help with the mosquitoes. Use a mosquito repellant!
Its a nice place for love birds in the evenings. In evenings we can call it the Love Lane but before sunset its meant for studies. Folks having girlfriends, we expect you to cooperate and adhere to the timings.
6) The corridor of MITCOE–
Special Features of this place:
-Peace
-Cool breeze
-Girls Hostel view
Availability: Pretty nice !
7. Readin hall of maharashtra institute of pharmacy
Surprised ? Well yes you can try using it! It can be a nice place to study if the guy over there allows you to!
Noise levels: Utmost silence! Try dropping a pin and you ‘ll know we are right!
Well MIP students make sure that the place keeps up its traditional silence when they sit and mug up their chemical reactions there! Tough job I know , I empathize.
Availabity: Good even during exam days as MIP schedule differs from ours.
8)Our very own reading hall
This should have been up there at number 1 , but nevertheless we give the same importance to all our places . We are not partial to anyone of them and would advice you to try them all.
This is the most elusive place during exams.
Wait for the door to get unlocked and you see a huge mob of our very own “Just turned studious and hardworking fellas “ rushing through the gate to capture seats with their bags first and then they , themselves . The sole focus then is to get a seat , how effectively that seat is used is a question we will not like to answer because even we are not sure.
One should look at the smile on this guy’s face who unlocks the door “Bichare bachche ,padhai ke booojh ke maaare”.
